The 20% project was introduced by Google, in which the company gave 20% of the time the employees worked, to create and to doing something they are passionate about. The essential question, "How will you enhance your world?" gave my partner, Wendy as well as myself the inspiration to do this project. We chose to fund raise for life straw because we know the death rate from waterborne illnesses are unfairly high and affect 769 million people all over our global community. Something as simple as filtered water, which we take for granted could make a great impact! We want not only to raise awareness about the lack of clean water in developing countries, but also provide access to safe water by doing this fundraiser. Each week we will measure our progress by the amount of money we've raised. Through our Gofundme website, we aim to raise $500 to purchase the life straws and distribute them out to students in Kenya who struggle constantly with bacteria, viruses, and parasites in their water. If we can send aid to a school where children are constantly sick and suffering, we believe it is our responsibility to aid the people who do not have the same access that we've been given.
