Making An Event!

My project is still in progress, but I'm close to having the first fundraising event set up! I learned that a lot of thought and preparation goes into setting up an event. A few days ago I contacted the manager for Chick-Fil-A. He was so helpful and he gave me the information on the fundraisers they do and the contact information for their marketing team. I got into contact with Meaghan and CJ, members from the team who coordinate and help set up fundraisers. Basically, Chick-Fil-A has something called a Spirit Night. They help fundraisers and at the end of the event a certain amount of profit is given to the organizers. Of course all of the money we raise is going directly towards our project. We were given a form to fill out that asked basic information about our event and I'll be turning it in this Friday which is the same time I'll meet with them to discuss all aspects of our organization and what we plan to do. I've been thinking about how I'll advertise this event and get people to go! However, my priority is getting my fundraiser approved and how I'll convince Meaghan and CJ that my partner, Wendy and I are really dedicated to this cause. I know that clean water is taken for granted in many places while other places struggle with disease and death caused by unfiltered water. I know that this event will be the day of a meet so that after I can bring our swim team because we usually all go out to eat after our meets. Before this event happens I'll start working on the chocolate fundraiser, which is the next step in our final goal of raising $500. I'm really hoping this event gets approved and by the nest blog post I'll have a date and time for this event!

Setbacks & Mini Projects

This project is much more difficult than I had originally expected it to be. However, I intend to continue planning fundraisers with my partner. With the help of some fast food restaurants we want to raise money for our final donation to the organization called CELF. From there all of the money will go to students in Kenya who do not have access to clean, parasite free water. We did face a setback this previous weekend when we realized we needed to plan in depth exactly which fast food restaurants we should ask to help with our project. If we can get approvals from places such as Chik Fil A and McDonalds, then I believe we will be able to take a big step towards our goal of raising near $500. We recently contacted Chik Fil A so we'll go in to discuss our project and how they can be a part of it. Hopefully, they'll be able to donate a certain amount of profits towards our project and if not we have several other places that we can visit. But of course the restaurants is just one idea we have. Another plan we have is to buy chocolate from, World's Finest Chocolate, made specifically for fundraisers and try to sell as many as possible. Not only at West Ranch, but I want to also get my little sister and her friends to sell them at Rancho Pico Junior High. Another place to sell the chocolate is Waller's GymJam where she trains for gymnastics and where there are many parents who would be willing to support our project. . Life Straws are gaining more and media attention as I've noticed because it's such a great use of technology. It's funny actually, I went on to Youtube to watch a video and a commercial for Life Straws came on. It's great that through that ad people can learn about this amazing invention. Overall my partner and I are still excited to see what we can do with this project. We'll continue to think of more mini projects to aid this project because it'll have an impact in the end even if it's small.
